Lega
Leandro Pugliese ( aka Lega , Hawaii & Plastique Vision ) was born in a small town south Buenos Aires called Bahia Blanca . At the tender age of 6 he started studying and playing guitar, as he loved music. The main difference between him and almost every single producer today, is that at his home nobody loves music or had anything to do with it, therefore it was difficult for him to get in touch with quality music from the beginning. At the age of twelve (1990) his love for technology/computers started. His family bought him a PC XT and one year later he had two different PC programming degrees… By then the guitar was for music and the PC just for making stupid useless software. Three years down the line, Lega started hanging out and investigating more about music. It was in 1995 when he found some software called “Trackers” for making music. His knowledge of programming made things easier at the offset to produce music with this kind of software. It was in 1997 when Lega had his first real contact with electronic music. He heard a Chemical Brother’s album and some time later it was the turn of “Homework” by Daft Punk, that kind of sound blew his mind. It was then he found out what he wanted to achieve. In 1999, aged 20 he decided to drop the guitar and started making music in a serious way. He made an album and , he gave it to his friend Waltie ( who is now one of the most respected DJs in Argentina ) and received great feedback from him. Waltie asked Lega to let him make a remix of one of the tracks. Finally both together with Chetar made it, and that was the beginning of Hawaii , one of the most respected tech house acts in South America . These days, he produces under the name Hawaii together with Maxine Vegas & Waltie, while Waltie & Lucas Ferro are the ones in charge of the Hawaii DjSets. With Hawaii being a primary Tech House collaboration, Leandro explores the minimal sound in a really high level as Lega. He has included fine female vocals performed by Julie Amadeo in some of his tracks. Plastique Vision is Leandro’s harder and darker music. Under the moniker of Lega, Leandro has remixed Jeff Bennett for his (Jeff´s) Kung Fu Dub label… and has plenty of forthcoming releases under labels such as Intrinsic Design, Spleen, Angora , Beat Code, and Low Riders. Plastique Vision’s first release will be Abstract Habits @ Pissed Off Recordings together with a G Pal remix. The “Between Escapes” 12´ @ New York’s Acute Recordings will follow, along with others releases @ Red Flag Collective, Blend, OffSide and Swift. Under Hawaii , they have releases @ Pissed off digital, one upcoming release at Lowriders (that had been included on the last Hernán Cattaneo Renaissance Masters series), and some others TBC. No doubts about it, there are not many talented producers who are able to dominate every single style like Leandro. He can produce almost every genre in the electronic music department, whilst being distinguished as an innovative and eclectic producer… Top stuff from the south…
